01 - Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a kettle or small saucepan.
02 - Place the tea bags or loose tea into a teapot or heatproof jug.
03 - Pour the boiling water over the tea and allow it to steep for 3 to 4 minutes.
04 - Remove the tea bags or strain out the loose tea leaves.
05 - Stir in freshly squeezed lemon juice and sweetener if desired.
06 - Pour the tea into cups, garnish with lemon slices if desired, and serve hot.
